Yvette Currie is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a private practice on 5th Avenue Bankers Hill, in San Diego, California.

Focus. Mental acuity.  Emotional regulation. Fair conflict resolution. Yvette tends to resonate with those wanting to take their “game” to the next level. Those struggling to track and remain present, mid project, activity, or test, are in good company, when working with Yvette.

She recently provided a series of trainings with a wide array of helicopter squadrons in Coronado, through the Department of Defense. They report seeing successful evidence, implementing her destructive behavior reduction strategies.

She also deployed with an aircraft carrier in 2014/2015 – trekking from Dubai to Australia – to assist with eliminating destructive behaviors and promote high performance amongst service members. Adding to this, Ms. Currie also provided her expertise to the hospital ship the USNS Mercy, in 2018, as a project manager, assisting with a pilot program aimed at changing the culture.

Other project involvement, includes working with Camp Hope America and Alliance for Hope International, training parents in trauma- informed- parenting. When she can, Yvette will assist with Camp Hope America while white water rafting.

Previously, Yvette assisted with the Wounded Warrior Project, in Mammoth Lakes, California, through the Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra program. In addition, she spent 3 years in Yokosuka, Japan, wherein, she worked with US military families. There, she initiated a pilot program with her therapy dog, Bear. He was a resounding success with the service members and the staff and the first, ever, for any Fleet and Family Support Center, in the world.

A native of San Diego,  Yvette draws on her wide array of experience and contacts within the local culture of the city. Having attended both under grad and graduate school, in San Diego, attendance at the Rock Church, along with internship training at the YWCA and the Grossmont Union School District, and assistance with the LGBT center, her unique and informed local perspective can aid clientele in getting plugged in to necessary resources, where and when necessary.

Yvette has been published by the official blog of the US Navy “NavyLive,” the San Diego Rock Church online, and the Point Loma Nazarene University Viewpoint Online.

When she isn’t working, Yvette can be found honing her craft through needling her cohort in improv games, during Toastmasters International meetings, riding her bicycle, singing karaoke, lecturing grad students, or challenging thought paradigms.
